Our journey

Seed stage

The Better Living Foundation Jatra (BLF) was launched on April 10, 2018, to support the equitable distribution of Bangladesh’s growing resources and opportunities as an informal social welfare organization. The first discussion meeting to this effect was held at Banani Star Kebab Restaurant on this day. In this discussion, the interested members discussed the concept paper and the goals of the organization.

The second meeting of BLF was held on 25th July 2018 at Hotel Center Point (Gulshan-2 Dhaka). At this meeting, the proposed members discussed in detail the goals, activities, and plans of the BLF.

Subsequently, on 16th August 2018, a discussion meeting on the progress of the plan adopted on 25th July 2018 was held at Banani (Road No-12, Basa 6 / A).

A health workshop was organized on 22 September 2016 at Hotel Center Point (Gulshan 2, Dhaka) on the initiative of the Better Living Foundation. In the workshop, poet Mohan Raihan, the founder of Science and Art of Living (SAAOL) presented a very effective speech on the treatment of the heart without cutting heart. In the same workshop, BLF also planned to take various anti-food adulteration programs.

Later, on the occasion of Victory Day on 16 December 2019, a reunion was organized among the BLF members at Hotel Safari in Banani. On this occasion, Mr. Akram, President of BLF was felicitated for his heroic contribution to the war of liberation.

Getting registration

Gradually BLF urged the necessity of establishing a formal social welfare foundation as our breadth of activities has increased. After much discussion and ample research, we decided to register in the Registrar of Joint-stock Companies & Firms Bangladesh, as a Society under “The Societies Registration Act, 1860” of Bangladesh. Accordingly, we applied and successfully registered ourselves on 29th December 2021 as a foundation, our registration number is No. S-13767/2021.

Next course

In our next course, we’re on our way to getting registration from the Department of Social Services and NGO Affairs Bureau.  Additionally, we’re planning for ISO 21001, an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization for Non-Profit organizations.

We understand the importance of approaching each work integrally and believe in the power of simple.
